Pressure Caps
Pressure caps are designed to work as a “release valve” to excess pressure within the vehicles cooling system. As the coolant within the system heats up, it expands, causing a pressure build up. The pressure cap is the only place within the cooling system where the excess pressure can escape. When the pressure reaches maximum, the pressure pushes the valve open, allowing coolant to escape from the cooling system.
